LINDA AND SILVIA’S 50’S INSPIRED ITALIAN WEDDING
DO YOU WANT TO TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL?
I (Silvia) asked Linda to marry me. I organized a treasure hunt in our home in Milan with more or less 10-12 clues Linda had to follow to arrive to the last one.. that was the ring for the proposal. A very simple and always stilish ring: white gold with (small) diamond by Tiffany.
NOW ABOUT THE BIG DAY! WHAT WAS THE THEME AND INSPIRATION?
We just followed our taste, trying to keep everything very simple, but refined. Some bits inspired from italian ’50.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THESE VENUES AND WHAT DID YOU LIKE ABOUT THEM?
The ceremony was at Palazzo Reale, at the very center of Milan. Next door of Piazza Duomo, in the beautiful La Sala degli Specchi.
In Italy it’s compulsory to marry in a Municipality: we choos the nicest of our town. We wanted to marry in Milan because we met and live there. It was important for us. We arrived at the ceremony driving an old FIAT 500.
The reception was the day after in a very nice location in Valle del Curone: a protected natural area 1 hour north of Milan. The location name is Galbusera Nera: a very secluded and intimate place in the middle of the hills and the vineyards. A serene and chic location. We and some selected guests, more or less 30, slept there in some other buildings. No cars at the location, the arrival was possible only with a 10/15 minutes walk. Aperitive and dinner was outside with stunning views of the sunset on the vineyards. No fixed tables but everybody could sit where they preferred.
We wanted our families and friends with us, specially our friends, that are also like a family for us. Sleeping there, waking up in the middle of nature and spending the day after together was great.
FLOWERS
Didn’t have any at the ceremony, just very simple at the party. Provided from the location Galbusera Nera. Just their garden flower and herbs.
FOOD
Food was amazing, everybody loved it.
No meat, just local lake fish and vegetables. Vegetables and cheeses produced locally.
Also the wine is produced from their owns vineyard and is really amazing.
We are very keen on environment and love animals, that was a big thing for us. It was important that it was all local.
CAKE
Not very fond of sweets, it was just a very big fruit cake. To keep it simple.
THE ENTERTAINMENT
During drinks and dinner we had a live music entertainment. A swing band of 4 people playing Italian and international music of the 50’/60′. They were also dressed to the theme. After dinner there was a DJ set inside.
YOUR OUTFITS
For the ceremony we both wore coordinated Dolce & Gabbana dresses with D&G high heel shoes.
For the party I had a Paul Smith black dress, very comfy and simple. Linda was wearing a black jumpsuit from Max Mara.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Very professional and stunning pictures.
Young and nice, it was like not having them around. Very discrete.
THE VIDEOGRAPHER
Ramona, a friend that was also our guest, made us a video as a wedding gift.
WHAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT AND MOST FUN PART FOR YOU?
Ceremony was very nice and touching, but party the day after was great.
Everything was very casual and perfect. We had great fun!
WOULD YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?
