EVENTS: CRANBROOK VEGAN & ECO WEDDING FAIR
If you know me at all, you know the sustainability is a very important topic for me, and ecology is more and more talked about in the wedding industry. Today I have an invitation to a very special event.
The Cranbrook Eco & Wedding Fair aims to fill the gap in the wedding market for more eco-friendly and vegan weddings. Lots of people understand there is a lot of waste in weddings and many people are vegan for the animals and the planet.
The Fair will have around 18 stalls of wedding inspiration including vegan catering and cakes, eco florists, vegan friendly hats, hair and makeup. Plus photography, candles, wedding web resources, jewellery and more.
See Facebook @SEVeganEvents for updates and supplier bios. Being held in the grade II listed Vestry Hall, Stone Street, Cranbrook, Kent. The Fat Carrot pop- up Cafe will be open for tea & vegan cake.
At 3pm there will be a pre-booked vegan catering tasting buffet in the cafe area with The Fat Carrot (£12.50 per head).
Email thefatcarrot@live.co.uk to book a place.NB There are stairs at the main entrance – to avoid these use the sloping path to the back door. Free parking nearby.

EVENTS: The Unconventional Wedding Festival
Blogs, directories and websites are great but nothing beats chatting to wedding suppliers face to face and getting inspiration in person. There is plenty of wedding fairs and events out there and I’d like to share the good ones with you. Organisers of The Unconventional Wedding Festival got in touch and sent us some details so check it out.
PHOTOGRAPHY BY Ed Brown Photography Taking place at Stanford Hall, a stunning Grade 1 listed William & Mary House in the heart of the Midlands on 11 and 12 May 2019, The Unconventional Wedding Festival is a new breed of wedding fair designed to cater for the latest trends in the wedding industry.
Unconventional in every sense of the word, The Unconventional Wedding Festival is aimed at couples who don’t want their wedding to be the same as everyone else’s and would rather stand out and be a flamingo amongst a flock of pigeons.
With a growing number of couples looking for ways to add their own unique touches to their wedding and create something that truly reflects their personalities, we have created a wedding fair with a difference which aims to not only inspire the modern couple and connect them with suppliers who can help them make their dream wedding a reality, but also have a lot of fun in the process.
And it’s not just the wide array of alternative and unique suppliers and performers we’ve pulled together that makes The Unconventional Wedding Festival so different, but the set up as well.

EVENTS: WEDDING SHOWCASE AT THE KENSINGTON PALACE
In November Gay Wedding Blog got invited to attend the Historic Royal Palaces’ annual Wedding Showcase at the Kensington Palace. Due to work commitments I couldn’t attend this very special event but lovely Olivia of Nulyweds agreed to represent the blog and also write about the night to share it with you all.
On a bitterly cold, breath-I-see-you night in November, Kensington Palace opened its doors to wedding planners, major industry influencers and press (that’s us). I went with Nina Beer from Occasion Queens, dressed in our finest to keep to the “lounge suits” dress code. We walked along the twinkly pathway, passed the pavilion, through the glittering archway and down the stairs to the palace entrance. These guys are serious fairy light fans. As you walked into the main entrance and round to the cloakroom, you are immediately in awe of the spaciousness and finery this venue has to offer.
Through to the staircase, with royal red walls and paintings of the land and gentry, we walked to the reception room for a cocktail reception with the industry’s finest. This is where we could really get a feel for the venue. Think pure, unadulterated tradition and royalty. You feel like royalty in there which is either intimidating as a prospect or what you’ve always dreamed of – really depends on what floats your boat. Treated to orange and elderflower mocktails and more-ish canapes from Blue Strawberry Catering, it was easy to feel spoilt.
