CLARE AND CORRINA’S THE ELVETHAM FUN WEDDING
Last real wedding of 2018!! How is it end of December already?! We are ending this year with Clare and Corrina and their lovely and fun wedding at The Elvetham. Photographed by Helen Sarah Photography.
TELL US THE STORY OF HOW YOU MET
Dating in the gay world is like finding a job, you have to do it online or get referred, as we had no mutual friends. We only had the one option which was online dating which soon lead to an awkward first date in Nando’s and the rest was history.
NOW ABOUT THE BIG DAY! WHAT WAS THE THEME AND INSPIRATION? How DID THE DAY LOOK LIKE?
The inspiration came from things we both enjoy together and things that are important in our lives. We had a rollercoaster themed wedding cake because we both have a passion for rollercoasters, the bigger the better. The signs were written in American Horror Story font because it’s something we both enjoy watching together, amongst other things we decided to ditch the traditional flowers on the wedding breakfast tables and go with chilli plants because Clare has a passion for chillies!
CAKE
As we are huge rollercoaster fans we had a tired cake with a track going down it and us in a carriage ready to descend.
THE READINGS
We had two readings during our ceremony which summed up our relationship. The first was Pam Ayres Yes I’ll Marry you My Dear and the second was an extract Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas.
WHAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT AND MOST FUN PART FOR YOU?
We worked extremely hard on making the wedding as personal as it could be. Corrina’s favourite part was the ceremony whilst Clare’s was just after because the nerves had subsided and she felt like she could relax and enjoy the rest of the day as a married couple.
CEREMONY AND RECEPTION LOCATION
The Elvetham was the perfect venue for us due to its intimate setting and abundance of history which we both absolutely loved.
FLOWERS, DECORATIONS, ETC
We chose simple flowers as we liked the simplicity of white roses and sweetpea. The decorations were very personal to us. We had all our signs written in American Horror Story font. We stuck to a colour scheme of mint green and powder blue and tried to reflect this everywhere we could, even the confetti was colour coordinated. We love Yankee candles so had wedding day tartlets as favours for the female guests and aftershave for the men. Instead of traditional flowers on the tables we had chilli plants on each wedding breakfast table with details on the plant including its place on the Scoville chart. We provided flip flops next to the dance floor for people to have if they had aching feet.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Our photographer is a family friend and as soon as Corrina proposed I knew it had to be Helen. She made everyone feel at ease and her smile and demeanor was infectious resulting in lots of fantastic photos which we will treasure for a lifetime.
WOULD YOU HAVE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE FOR COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?
Give yourself as much time as you can and the hardest part for us was organizing the guests!
MUSIC
We had a great DJ who was very thorough and planned the evening very well. He took song requests and made sure there was something for everyone.
