DARRYL AND LEE’S WELSH WINTER WEDDING

If you’re planning a winter wedding, here’s a bit of inspiration for you. Darryl and Lee had a lovely and stylish Welsh wedding, beautifully photographed by Aga Hosking.

HOW DID YOU MEET?

The old fashioned way- over a crowded dance floor

NOW ABOUT THE BIG DAY! WHAT WAS THE THEME AND INSPIRATION?

Our theme was winter wonderland. Winter and christmas is Lee’s favorite time of the year and Christmas 2012 is actually the time I popped the question. So December will always be a special time for us. It was a perfect dry day, a little cold but hey, it’s December.

WHAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT AND MOST FUN PART FOR YOU?

The most important thing to us was the fact that all our special family and friends were there to celebrate our love, commitment and just to have the best day. The most fun part must go to our evening entertainment. Pixie Perez didn’t hold back when it came to making sure everyone had a good lough and a dance.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR VENUE

We got married at the Bryngarw House, Brynmenyn, Bridgend.

The venue and grounds was a perfect location for us. The staff and our wedding coordinator Millie were amazing! Nothing was too much trouble, met all of our requirements and everything went smoothly.

FASHION

We said from the start that we both wanted tweed check suits. We had a little struggle finding what we desired but we finally found what we wanted at Slaters, Cardiff. We went with brown brogue Ted Baker’s to finish our look. We also said from the word go that our bridesmaids would all be in white to fit in with our Winter Wonderland wedding theme. Dresses were from Debenhams, ChiChi London and a bridal store. The girls amazing glitter shoes were from Kurt Geiger.

HAIR & MAKE UP

We actually did the hair ourselves along with one of our bridesmaid Natalie Sheppard who’s also a stylist.
Makeup again were our bridesmaids. Dawn Booth from Bobby Brown and Cadi Fôn.

FLOWERS AND DECORATIONS

A family friend, florist Sue Land-Peters did all of our bridesmaid bouquets, buttonholes and top table. We all as a team did the other centrepieces. Mirrored vase with winter twigs, crystals and pine cones that complimented the crisp white background and our Winter Wonderland vision.

CAKE

A brilliant naked cake was designed to our vision by our wonderful friend Sam Diaz.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

What a brilliant lady- Aga made us feel so relaxed at our first meeting at Starbucks, we knew there and then she was the photographer for us. She listens to what we wanted, very professional, no one felt she was intrusive – in fact, at times we forgot she was even there. And she’s a good laugh! We also tried to make her feel at ease and like she was a guest and not feel like she was just there working.

BAND / DJ

Singer during the ceremony was Sara Owen – a school friend of Darryl’s. A voice of an angel, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house, especially when she sang the first song – ‘A thousand years’ by Christina Perri.

WOULD YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?

Don’t stress!! Get you’re vision and do everything throughout the year. Don’t leave everything until last minute. And enjoy every minute of your day, don’t stress that everyone else is having a good time, because they are! You’ve planned it well! You make sure that YOU are having a good time!
