DAVID AND DAVID’S SURPRISE GLASGOW WEDDING

Look at these two happy gentlemen in kilts! What a great Glasgow wedding, enjoy!

TELL US THE STORY OF HOW YOU MET

We met almost 20 years ago through friends and being out and about in bars and clubs in Glasgow, however we didn’t ask each other out back then. With the world of social media and Facebook, having pop ups of someone you may know function we connected as friends and it led to us both catching up for a drink. And then led to a 10 year relationship.

NOW ABOUT THE BIG DAY – WHAT WAS THE THEME AND INSPIRATION? HOW DID THE DAY LOOK LIKE? DID YOU STYLE IT YOURSELF?

We have been together for 10 years when we decided to tie the knot on Tuesday 12th March 2019 at the Glasgow City Chamber and a small dinner reception at the Blythswood Hotel in Glasgow .
Decided to keep the ceremony on the day intimate with just small group of family and friends witnessing our vows before we flew to Paris the day after.

We went up the Eiffel Tower on Thursday to make a very important social media announcement. Posting on Facebook on our anniversary, were we wrote “ 10 years to the day, look what happened two days ago” revealing that we had got married. Paris was our first holiday not long after we got together 10 years ago so thought that was the place to make our marriage announcement. We celebrated with  champagne and a five course meal sailing down the Seine.

Then we headed home for a big party at the Corinthian on the Saturday evening. Up until the announcement friends and family thought they were coming on the Saturday evening to a 10 year together celebration party not a wedding reception !

On the Saturday evening we replicated the handfasting ceremony from our wedding for the evening guests.
We designed our matching wedding rings with our jeweller Sweet Rosie. We wanted something a bit different and we chose matching hammered finish bands set with a distinctive sapphire. March was when we met and that months stone is an aquamarine, but we thoguht it was quiet light blue so we went for a sapphire instead. People comment on how eye catching and how the sapphire can look different in different lights.

It was very difficult to keep our wedding a surprise until we announced on social media, but it was also very exciting as well.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

We choose John as he had done our friends’ wedding and the pictures were brilliant. John was fantastic and we absolutely love our pictures! Like most couples we were a bit anxious about getting our photo taken, but he made us feel so relaxed in front of the camera and it was so much fun.
