ANDY AND ADAM’S ENGAGEMENT SHOOT ONBOARD THEIR SAILING HOME

Hope you’re enjoying the wonderful summer! Todays shoot is a little bit different than most of the engagement shoots. As Laura couldn’t join Andy and Adam for their big day, she had an idea to pull all the stops for the engagement shoot – especially that the location was so amazing. She invited other suppliers, styled the whole thing and photographed it beautifully.

Read their story and all about the shoot below!

THEIR STORY

Andy and Adam met on the 23rd Sept 2009, exactly 8 years later they tied the knot, and they disembarked on a honeymoon of a lifetime at the end of May!

Andy and Adam met in a bar. Breaking all the ‘rules’ they moved in with each other after only a month of dating. 4 months in and Buster their puppy completed their romantic whirlwind relationship.

Adam proposed New Years Eve 2012, on a white sandy beach in Thailand. The fireworks had just announced a New Year when Adam got down on one knee. The perfect proposal stopped there… Adam had borrowed the ring from a friends past relative and lost it almost straight away in the sand… 2 hours of searching went by (Andy disapproving!) and finally the ring was found!

Adam and Andy made their way into a small town to have personalised rings made to remember the time away.

Andy and Adam planned a small and intimate wedding for forty closest people in a stunning Georgian villa close to where Adam grew up in Lichfield. A gorgeous thought out menu, live acoustics and lots of free champagne left everyone with full heart, full stomachs and a fuzzy head the next day!

The sailing lifestyle and epic honeymoon is what no one expected along their journey…

Both boys grew up in central UK towns, so the boys sailing adventure seems completely unexpected, yet their love for adventure and the sea pulled them down to the south coast. They moved to Brighton Marina at the beginning of 2017 after a Mediterranean sailing adventure. It felt like fate, or maybe it was perfect coincidence, that the boys both came across job opportunities in the Birghton & Hove area.

They have spent a year renovating and nurturing their boat Escapade for the maiden voyage at the end of May.

Andy and Adam are now ready for their honeymoon sailing the English Channel, and Bay of Biscay with Buster on board. They will spend 6 months travelling from the UK to Greece before returning home. They will visit Spain, Italy and Greece, but I am sure they will discover some beautiful little islands along the way.

The plan is to anchor, relax and enjoy the med from their home.

And who knows… will they want to leave!

INSPIRATION FOR THIS SHOOT

I wanted to create a dinning experience on their boat, as I cannot be with them for their wedding as I had already booked a Mexico wedding. I asked if any suppliers would like to be a part of a styled engagement shoot with a real couple, who was actually getting married.

I had some gorgeous humans jump on board and support us with this shoot.

We wanted something elegant, timeless and beautiful. So we used timeless, vintage elements with modern inserts.

Alison at Bloomologie created a beautiful foliage hoop for the back of the boat, a wild bouquet and a wild vase for the small table. The buttonholes were dried out flowers which worked perfectly with the hot sunny day.

AC at Cheeky Munch Cakes baked the most amazing cake… honestly, we still don’t stop talking about it!

It was so good that Andy and Adam made an order for their wedding cake, and again the guests couldn’t stop raving about it.

Monica from Purple Mint events joined us to help me with organising the day.

The shoot wasn’t smooth sailing… Don’t trust someone to shock oysters with a butchers knife! Andy had to take Adam to A&E for an excursion. But, everything went ahead with smiles on their faces and bandages on Adam’s hand.
