Sun is shining, sunflowers and smiles everywhere – what a wonderful day for this Highfield Hall wedding.

TELL US THE STORY OF HOW YOU MET

We were society friends in university. Then became best friends very quickly. Everyone else said it was obvious that we should be a couple but I couldn’t see it at the time. Davy fancied me first and after a while I started to see him differently, beyond friends and someone I wanted to spend all of my time with as I was falling in love.

NOW ABOUT THE BIG DAY! WHAT WAS THE THEME AND INSPIRATION?

We wanted a wedding day like our life together. Relaxed, full of food and hilarious. It was a glorious sunny day in June, the only one after two weeks of rain. We had a colour scheme of yellow and green with a variety of personal items and references to our interests. Everything was provided either by friends and family or the venue.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE VENUE AND WHAT DID YOU LIKE ABOUT IT?

Our venue was Highfield Hall. We were won over by the owners who made everything so easy and relaxed. They were like family, we went lots to view the venue and support their functions. They had so much to make the day special and save on costs.

YOUR OUTFITS

We wore matching suits, with the dad’s & groomsmen matching also. The groomsmaids had dark green universal dresses which each put in a different style.

FLOWERS & DECORATIONS

Our flowers were each of our favourites. Sunflowers and Lillies which also made up some of the buttonholes

We made various custom decorations and reissued any unused invitations and save the dates as bunting.

CAKE

We had a custom made vegan 3 tiered wedding cake with fondant grooms on top created to look like us along with flowers and our pet tortoise.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

We luckily had a close friend be our photographer which made everything so easy and comfortable. She was able to catch our essence of having fun & being childish yet loving.
So many amazing photos which tell the story of the day and our story as a couple.

WOULD YOU HAVE ANY PIECE OF ADVICE FOR COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?

Our advice is – it’s your day! The best thing about a wedding is being different, not the same. You can have an amazing day no matter what the budget.
Choose the things that make you both happy then put your budget in them – whether it be nice clothes, good food, fabulous music or plenty of booze. You won’t regret it.
The day goes quick so enjoy it or it’ll be over before it starts.
