GISELA AND GARAZI – INTIMATE COUPLE SHOOT

So excited to be sharing this shoot with you!! It’s definitely different from anything I’ve shared on this blog so far, and I hope you love it too. Gisela and Garazi’s lovely styled couple shoot starts with hanging out on the sofa and turns into portraits in the most gorgeous outfits (by our own Brighton based L-O-M!).

“Wherever she is, this is home to me”

I was reading an article about a same-sex couple, and the discrimination they suffered just to show their love publicly. It’s so sad… How can we destroy the essence of a word like “love”, with this kind of hate? It’s terrible. And I was talking with a friend about it, and she told me that it would be great to do something together, she with her girlfriend, just loving them each other at home. Well, we had everything planned and two days before she told me she can’t, and then I found Garazi and Gisela, and they were perfect for this. That’s why we had an idea about a very simply shooting at home, with a couple, in a normal lifestyle shoot. Laying in the sofa, exchanging some anecdotes, sharing warm smiles… Love has many faces, and for us this was the perfect Sunday morning face.

We wanted to show something intimate, in a minimalist and modern home. A friend talked us about a beautiful medieval castle in the north of Catalonia (Castell de Caramany), with awesome surroundings, and nice interiors. We were looking for something different, but we decided to take a look to this middle age fortress. And such a lovely surprise! The owners (they live there!) have been working in the castle to create a new area completely redecorated, all painted in white, with mixed media abstract paintings in the walls. It was perfect!

When we talked about this project with the owners, they answered us at the moment with a YES. It was great! Louise, one of the designers of L-O-M (London), was also so excited about this idea. She sent us two bodies from their Folklorico collection, and two pleated chiffon skirts (in emerald green and burgundy).  We could imagine the girls walking through the castle’s gardens, with this colourful outfit, giving the perfect colour touch to a rainy sunset.

The floral accessories are carefully designed and created by Anna, from Studio Jungle Bcn. She plays with dried flowers to create beautiful accessories. Garazi and Gisela are so natural, so we loved their simple look with a red fascinator and a green/mustard hand-wrist.

As we think that the point is always in all the tiny details, we were so happy when Marta Oms, the jewellery designer, confirmed us her collaboration in this project. She left us some of the pieces of her Skulls collection, because they were perfect, as a symbolic “love until death”. No matter the consequences, no matter the obstacles. Always, love.

It was so great to share this intimate shooting with such a great team. All of them easily trusted us and got involved in this project, and this implication was the key to have these lovely images. Special thanks to Garazi and Gisela, our feathery skin girls.
