LIZZIE AND EMILY’S COUNTRY WEDDING

Ahh the details, the tractor, the smiles of gorgeous brides! Lizzie ad Emily put so much heart and skill into their english country marquee wedding and it was wonderfully captured by Jacob Malinski.

Our wedding, on the 10 June this year, was very personal and DIY! Emily designed all of our wedding stationary – from the invitations through to our wedding favours.

Our wedding ceremony, at Sulgrave Manor, was in the village where Emily grew up. Emily’s Dad drove us and our bridesmaid through the village to the venue using his vintage tractor and trailer! Before he retired Emily’s Dad was a dairy farmer, so this was particular special as it reminded Emily of her childhood!

Emily’s dress was the ‘Nancy’ dress designed by Brighton Belle, and mine was by Catherine Deane: it’s a bodice and skirt as separates. The bodice is called ‘Darla’ and the skirt ‘Danielle’. The lace top, also by Catherine Deane, is called ‘Gracelyn’. I actually bought the dress second hand from the Little Bridal Boutique. The service at the Little Bridal Boutique was brilliant – Cat made me feel really comfortable trying on the dresses, and buying second hand helped to save money for some of the other wedding details! Cat stocks ex sample, ex display and pre-loved dresses.
Emily’s shoes were by Rainbow Club. My shoes were borrowed from a friend who wore them for her wedding two years earlier. Borrowing Lucy’s shoes felt extra special because she had very recently given birth to her daughter and couldn’t make it to our ceremony – the shoes helped her to be there in spirt!!

Our wedding reception was across the road in a marquee at the Star Inn – a pub run by Emily’s brother Tom and his husband Chris. Tom, Chris and their staff did all of our food from the canapés through to the ‘ploughmans style buffet’ in the evening. All of the food was locally sourced and/or handmade by the pub. The marquee was decorated by our family members, my Mum spent hours making bunting. She also handmade lace to decorate jam jars for tea lights!
All of our wedding suppliers were brilliant and very gay friendly. Our hair was done by Bethany Alden, Jacob did an amazing job taking photographs all day right through to dancing in the evening. Not only did he capture the day brilliantly, but he put us and our guests at ease. His warm approach and friendly nature has meant that’s we’ve stayed in touch with him.
Our wedding flowers were locally grown and  sourced from a beautiful flower farm near where we live – Rachel at Green and Gorgeous did an amazing job creating beautiful bouquets for us and our 10 bridesmaids! Apparently that was a record number for her!

Our band The Riff Raffs were found through Alive Network and played a wide range of music getting both our young and older wedding guest up on the dance floor!

My now wife, Emily (an illustrator), designed all of our wedding stationery – from the invitations through to our wedding favours. She’s currently on summer holidays from uni and would love to do bespoke illustrations for other couples wedding stationary or even couples portraits. She can be found on instagram or emilyrussellrhymes.com.
