TRACY AND LINDA’S LOW KEY GLASGOW WEDDING
Today we have a very stylish wedding in Glasgow. Tracy and Linda were photographed by the fantastic Jo Donaldson Photography (one of our fab suppliers!!)
TELL US THE STORY OF HOW YOU MET
We both strongly believe that it is in your moments of decision making that you create your destiny. It is by the decisions that we made throughout our lives that our paths crossed initially in 1999 when, after one too many vodkas in the Polo Lounge led to Linda feeling bold, she asked Tracy if she could buy her a drink. After dating for a few months our lives took us in different directions. Our paths then crossed again in 2013 while Linda was living in Australia (and Tracy’s Facebook stalking really took hold). On Linda’s return from Australia in August 2015 they finally met up again in person and it was clear we were meant to be.
Linda always said she would never propose and it would be up to Tracy to do it but on Friday the 23rd September 2016, after purchasing a ‘marry me’ ring on a whim during her lunchbreak, Linda arranged a surprise night away at Boclair House where she decided to propose.
Not having actually thought about how I would propose, and still having the ring in my pocket while waiting on the second course, I found the ideal opportunity to grab the waiter when Tracy went to the bathroom. It was all a bit rushed and it didn’t help when Tracy returned to the table mid-conversation so the waiter had to think on his feet and turned the conversation to football!. And so the second course arrived and I was praying that they wouldn’t screw it up…..I mean what could possibly go wrong after a two minute conversation about a proposal that contained no detail and was interrupted!
Meanwhile Tracy was wondering why I was plying her with so much alcohol throughout the dinner. Then it all became clear when the waiter arrived with her dessert and on the plate it read ‘will you marry me’. All I could think of was ‘that worked out well’. Of course Tracy said yes and the journey to happily ever after began.
NOW ABOUT THE BIG DAY! WHAT WAS THE THEME AND INSPIRATION?
We wanted the ceremony to be as relaxed as possible and feel personal to us so we chose a humanist ceremony by the fabulous Susan Dougls-Scott.
It was important to us that we shared this day with our friends and family who supported us both as individuals and as a couple. We felt very lucky to have these amazing people in our lives and the day wouldn’t have been complete without them there to witness the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. We wanted everyone there to enter into the spirt of the day and most importantly, throw a few shapes on the dancefloor that evening.
WHAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT AND MOST FUN PART FOR YOU?
Besides saying ‘I do’…..it would have to be the photoshoot with Jo & Liam. They made us feel so relaxed and we laughed so much throughout our adventure around Glasgow City Centre. Besides the amazing photos that we ended up with that we cherish……we also have a new game to play thanks to Jo……the naughty alphabet game!
WOULD YOU HAVE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE FOR COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?
Try not to get too stressed and remember that it’s your day, your guests are there for you both because they love you and want to share in the moment. Plan your wedding for you, not for anyone else.
On the day it all goes by so quickly so take a moment to yourselves and take it all in.
