HARRIET AND DJ’S NAUTICAL THEMED WINTER WEDDING
This lovely wedding was send by Harriet and DJ’s photographer – Corina. There might have been winter outside but they had a fun seaside themed wedding complete with a surfboard as a guest book! Take a look and read what brides said about their big day.
TELL US THE STORY OF HOW YOU MET
We met 10 years ago outside my (DJ) friends’ salon in south London. I had popped out for a cigarette and Harriet happened to be strolling past the shop and bravely started a conversation with me about my t-shirt and then followed that by asking for my number. At the time she was only 17 and I was 28 so we decided to go our separate ways after a while. Until we got in contact again and got back together nearly 4 years ago.
NOW ABOUT THE BIG DAY! WHAT WAS THE THEME AND INSPIRATION?
We went for a nautical theme because DJ comes from a surfing background. Our colours were Navy and Ivory. We had the whole wedding day at Ye Olde Plough House as we fell in love with the barn conversion and cottages the moment we saw it. The food was provided by the venue and we had a selection of Christmas roast dinners as we got married in the November. Throughout the day and evening we had canapés and a buffet. The drinks were a selection of traditional Christmas drinks ie buck fizz and mulled wine.
WHAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT AND MOST FUN PART FOR YOU?
The most fun part for us both was the day itself. Because we walked in separately it was seeing another for the first time moments before we were due to say I do.
The fun part would be the making of our guest book as it’s a surf board which we now have hanging on our wall at home.
CAKE
Louise Marks from Sticky Fingers made our nautical themed 4 tiered cake, rum, lemon and red velvet.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Corina was absolutely fantastic, when we first met her she just made us feel totally comfortable and at ease which is why we chose her. On our actual day Corina blended in and at times we forgot she was there. Our pictures as a result were just mind blowing and we couldn’t recommend her enough.
WOULD YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?
Harriet – I would say stay calm. I am a very calm person and even at times I struggled. Make sure you have a good support network in your chosen wedding party. Always go with your instincts, when planning there is so much time at the beginning to second guess yourself. You waste so much time doing this only to arrive back at your original thought.
DJ – Brace yourself. Raise your budget and don’t buy a suit that doesn’t fit. And don’t buy a second suit that’s the wrong colour!! Try to help your wife to be with all the planning… Try!
