LUCY AND VICTORIA’S OUTDOOR LAKESIDE WEDDING
What a lovely summery week we are having here on the blog – today it’s more nature, lakeside, lovely DIY details, gorgeous brides and dogs!
This wedding was shared by Lucy and Victoeia’s photographer Becky Harley.
TELL US ABOUT THE DAY! WHAT WAS THE THEME, INSPIRATION, THE MOST IMPORTANT AND MOST FUN PART FOR YOU?
We had a floral/ Hessian and Lace theme. Think vintage tea party in the country! The ceremony was outside, in front of the lake which was very important to us. We made a lot of our decorations including centre pieces, favors, bouquets, hanging baskets and planted up teapots for the outside tables! Our 3 Border collie dogs, Lexi, Maggie and Molly were part of our bridal party, dressed up in their floral bow ties! Lexi was also the ring bearer, carrying a ring cushion on her back. We hired a camping field for our guests to stay in, and we spent our wedding night in a yurt on the edge of our own secluded pond. We were really keen to put on a relaxed, fun day so we could really enjoy spending the time celebrating with all our nearest and dearest – and we certainly got that.
We were so lucky to have so many friends and family members who helped out with our special day, which made it that bit more personal. Our bridesmaid dresses were lovingly made by Victoria’s sister, Rebecca Salt, bespoke to each bridesmaids size and with multi-way ties to suit their own individual style.
All wedding stationary was made by our brother in-law Stephan Salt’s design company ‘Just Add Salt’. He was so patient with us and made all our ideas come to life better than we could have hoped.
Our rings were custom made for us and engraved by Rings by Natalie
Both Wedding dresses were Maggie Sottero dresses, purchased from eBay! Alterations and fitting were carried out by the lovely Emma Siddall, a good friend of Victoria’s sister. Shoes were also eBay purchases, – floral pumps for both of us
Our hair was done by Kelly Gibson Hairdressing, she has a lovely relaxed style and styled us both beautifully.
Make up we did ourselves, using PHB natural beauty products.
Both the ceremony and reception were held at Grendon Lakes in Northamptonshire.
We were primarily looking for a location where we could have an outdoor wedding and scope to put our own twist on the reception and decorations. We made hanging baskets to hang on the pagoda, planted flowers in teapots for the outside tables, and spray painted horseshoes for favors. The fact that our dogs were allowed at the venue probably sealed the deal! The venue is super relaxed and the girls that run it are fabulous – we felt they were almost as excited about the wedding as we were! They were so helpful and really enabled us to make the venue our own for the day.
As camping enthusiasts, it was brilliant to be able to hire a field for our guests to really get into the spirit with us! We stayed in a beautiful secluded yurt for our wedding night and you can also hire amazing glamping villages!
Inside the marquee, our table and chair dressings were provided by a good friend and colleague, Amy Butler, who runs a wedding hire company in her spare time called ‘Something Borrowed Event Hire’.
Catering was arranged via the team at Grendon Lakes and provided by Creative Event Services. We had an amazing afternoon tea served at the reception and stone baked pizza’s cooked and served outside in front of our guests in the evening.
cake was made and decorated by Lucy’s mum!
Electric Folk Played at our reception. Hired through Garson Entertainment. They were fantastic! They even learn and perform your choice of first dance song. They were also really lovely lads and a pleasure to have at our wedding, our guests loved them!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
We met Becky Harley at a Wedding fair in the summer of 2016. We had a very precise idea of what we wanted from a photographer, and after looking through her work, we decided to book with her. Throughout the whole planning process, Becky was a real pleasure to work with, she even came to the farm we live on for an engagement shoot ahead of the wedding and captured some really lovely personal shots. She gave us so much help and advice on all aspects of the wedding!! She was like having another member of our bridal party – one that knew a lot about weddings! On the morning of the wedding, Becky was with us at our home while we got ready. She was topping up prosecco for us, helping us get changed, and even helping with coordinating our dogs! We couldn’t be more thrilled with our pictures at the end. I think Becky really took time to get to know us as a couple, and I think she really captured our special perfectly.
