GAËTAN AND FLORIAN’S ROMANTIC FRENCH COUNTRY WEDDING
Gaëtan and Florian planned and styled such a beautiful romantic French country wedding. It was shared with me by their videographer – super talented Julia Swell.
TELL US THE STORY OF HOW YOU MET
We met each other on the internet but we didn’t speak a lot together, we need something real. Florian was at his parent’s home and came back to Paris on the 9th of March 2011. Gaetan decided to make Florian a surprise and wait him at the train station in Paris on the train platform. It was very quick because Florian must meet someone else and Gaetan must go to work, but just a kiss in the neck has done the difference. The evening, the same day, we decided to have an evening together just to talk and since this moment we never let us loose, this has gone for 9 years.
WHAT WAS THE THEME AND INSPIRATION FOR THE DAY? DID YOU STYLE IT YOURSELF?
It was an autumn wedding and we love plants! So, we have decided to showcase green, wood, raw material, lights. Pinterest and our natural love of nature help us to get the perfect inspiration and our friends helped a lot for the DIY design.
YOUR OUTFITS
We wanted to stand out from our guests, which is why we chose Florian’s favorite color, green, for our costumes. We went to a tailor-made tailor in Paris, Samson at rue de Sèvres. We choose a wonderful bow tie in duck and peacock feather for the fantasy touch of our outfits from Fabliot Paris.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE VENUE AND WHAT DID YOU LIKE ABOUT IT?
Ceremony and reception took place in the same place at Prieuré de Vernelle (77-France). We have decided to rent all the location because they have a chapel and for the secular ceremony it has been wonderful. Our family came from Paris and the east of France, it was a good place, midway for both. Moreover, all get a room for the night and the natural style and environment of the place matched the theme perfectly.
FLOWERS & DECORATIONS
About the decorations, all is DIY. Gaëtan went to get flowers at the Rungis market on Thursday morning, and we prepared everything on Friday. We even collected old garage doors from Florian’s grandparents for the ceremony.
CAKE
The cake was provided by the Prieuré de Vernelle which also does catering. We choose a “Croquembouche” and a lot of dessert miniatures.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER AND VIDEOGRAPHER
Two wonder women! We choose them for their approach and own style. And also because they know each other and have already worked together. We wanted a real chemistry between photo and video, and what the girls gave us is very complementary and fully meets our expectations.
ENTERTAINMENT
We choose a band called “Glam Orchestra” and it was soooooooo cool! They gave a really chill atmosphere for the cocktail and just ignited the dance floor.
WOULD YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?
Be yourself, do things that correspond to you otherwise you’ll not be you during YOUR day!

What a stunning venue. There seems to be a move away from the usual hotel based weddings, and its brilliant. How much more atmospheric are venues like this. Everyone always seems to have more fun in quirky settings.
