SUPPLIER SPOTLIGHT: TRACEY WARBEY PHOTOGRAPHY

PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF

Hi, my name is Tracey and I’m a documentary wedding photographer based in St Austell, Cornwall. I’m very fortunate to be able to shoot weddings full time and I cover the whole of the South West of England.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO START YOUR BUSINESS?

I have been into photography my whole life and bought my first DSLR in 2008.
Living in Cornwall, I started photographing seascapes and landscapes mainly and would post the pictures on social media.
In 2014 an old work colleague asked me to photograph her wedding, I agreed and the rest they say is history.

HOW DOES YOUR TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE?

When I’m not shooting a wedding, I’m busy juggling family life with running my business. I have two children of primary school age, so they tend to keep me pretty busy when I’m not editing or doing the marketing/ SEO thing…

WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOB?

Being chosen to shoot my client’s weddings is a real compliment. When I am able to spend the day with them and their loved ones and experience all the emotion, it’s such a honour. I feel very privileged to do this for a living and for me, it’s definitely one of the best bits of the job.

AND WHAT IS THE WORST PART?

Probably the cull. I take approximately 2000/3000 photos on an average wedding day and I don’t particularly enjoy sifting through them all the get to the best ones but once I’m done, it’s onto the fun bit.

WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?

Take your time to adapt your own style. Every photographer is different and that’s what makes them unique. Don’t spend too much time looking at what other photographers are doing.

WHAT WOULD YOU WANT COUPLES TO KNOW ABOUT WHAT YOU DO?

I’m not going to put anyone under any pressure on the day, it’s just not my style. I want my couples to know that I’m going to blend into the background but be ready to capture all those important moments. I want them to enjoy the day, forget I’m there and to not worry about timings or anything else for that matter. That’s my job.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR COUPLES PLANNING A WEDDING?

It’s your day, do things your way and don’t be too influenced by others.
Also to prioritise what’s most important to you and plan your budget accordingly.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU DIDN’T WORK IN THE WEDDING INDUSTRY?

I worked in finance previously for 12 years, so I would probably still be doing that.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR TIME OFF?

Spend time with my family is number one. I also love a good box set.

DREAM HOLIDAY?

Iceland definitely. I would love to see the northern lights. I would also like to go to the Italian lakes.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS?

Shooting weddings hopefully!
