AARON AND JAMIE’S WARM AND COLOURFUL WEDDING

A wedding, castle and plenty of colour – all things that make me happy. Enjoy this wedding shared by the photographer Nick Church.

TELL US THE STORY OF HOW YOU MET

We swiped right (haha!) and everything else is history (and they lived happily every after!)

NOW ABOUT THE BIG DAY! WHAT WAS THE THEME AND INSPIRATION?

We opted for a colour selection that would fill a dull wintery day with brightness, and we wanted to incorporate lots of yellow. Yellow was the favourite colour of Aaron’s mum, and in some way we wanted it incorporated to make it feel that she’s a part of it.

We like eclectic but simple and I guess it worked out that way. We thought of and designed most of the decorations. Aaron has used his calligraphy to write every name placeholder, menu and table names.

TELL US ABOUT THE CEREMONY AND RECEPTION LOCATIONS. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE VENUE AND WHAT DID YOU LIKE ABOUT IT?

We chose Clearwell Castle for both the ceremony and reception. We instantly fell in love with it at first sight. I guess we liked that its tucked away in the country and that we we’re able to accommodate all of our guess in the little village of Clearwell. Clearwell Castle has 15 castle bedrooms and some more cottage accommodations dotted around the village which is about 3-5 minutes walk from the castle, so its really idyllic and ideal!

YOUR OUTFITS

We opted for tails. This wasn’t the initial plan, but the moment James tried one on, he instantly liked it. We incorporated our colour scheme to the socks, cravat and button holes. We rented our suits from Peter Posh and we wore Hugo Boss shoes for a bit of style.

All of our groomsmen wore tails as well. For our Maid of Honour and bridesmaid, we were not strict on what to wear. That being said, they really aligned to our chosen colour scheme so fitted perfectly which was a bonus for us!

FLOWERS, DECORATIONS ETC

Our flowers we’re supplied by WildeBunch. They have really been awesome! The flower arrangements were really beautiful. They did go the extra mile by helping look the venue look great with some extra decor that they have added on, like hurricane lamps and a twig arch. Aaron has used his calligraphy to write every name placeholder, menu and table names.

Our cake has been created and supplied by Cherish Cakes by Katherine Edwards. Our 4 tier naked cake was to die for!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

Our photographer Nick Church Photography, was exquisite in capturing the day in true colour. Our guests has coined him as a secret agent as he was so good in making himself unnoticed amidst the sea of guests we had in the castle to ensure he captured the best (and the funniest) pictures ever!

THE ENTERTAINMENT

The DJ was part of the castle package so we didn’t have to worry that a bit! We just had to choose our music!

YOUR WEDDING PLANNER

Our wedding planner, Michelle Marfell, also came as part of the castle package, and she was wonderful to a tee!

WHAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT AND MOST FUN PART FOR YOU?

The most important for us is when we we’re pronounced as wedded. The feeling was pure bliss and happiness. The most fun was when Aaron’s father started taking over the dance floor – it was hilarious!

WOULD YOU HAVE ANY PIECE OF ADVICE FOR COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?

Enjoy the process and the journey. It can be quite a revelation of how different your preferences and choices are, but always remember that it’s both your wedding – so accepting and loving the preference of your future husband is important as you want them to be happy. Love can be unconditional (we are hopeless romantic I know!)
