STYLED SHOOT: WARM RUSTIC BARN WEDDING

Today I’m sharing a lovely barn wedding styled shoot planned, photographed and sent to GWB by Nicki of FJS Photography.

INSPIRATION AND STORY BEHIND THE SHOOT

This shoot was styled to be the epitome of rustic glamour, with warm tones and beautiful florals complimenting a beautiful rustic barn venue, complete with black cladding and a jetty over a lake. The couple were incredible, and looked sensational in gowns which complimented each other beautifully. The entire shoot was enchanting, with a stunning colour scheme and fantastic hard work by all the suppliers involved.

INVOLVED SUPPLIERS

The shoot took place at the picturesque Barn at Brookend Green Farm in Bedfordshire. Overlooking Sharpenhoe Clappers, with views of rolling countryside, and an orchard and a lake amongst its grounds, it is a truly beautiful barn wedding venue. The venue has so many beautiful photo opportunities, for example the lake has a gorgeous little jetty which is perfect for portraits, and the black cladding of the barn is another stunning backdrop for couple photographs.

My inspiration for the styling of this shoot came from the gorgeous warmth of the neutral and burnt orange tones. The colours are just incredibly elegant, warm and inviting, perfect for a wedding. The idea for the table styling was to be full of floral warmth, and Sara at Queen and Eden delivered it beautifully. The table was lined with elegant long concrete vases filled with dahlias, cosmos, proteas and roses, nestled amongst runners in burning sand colour, bronze and nude tapered tall candles, and burnt orange napkins seated alongside beautiful stationery by Pink Peony Weddings complementing it all perfectly. Small bound dried flowers sat next to the menus on the place settings, effortlessly tying the styling and stationery together. The cake was a magnificent three tier buttercream iced beauty, with the top and bottom tiers in a cream colour, and the middle tier incorporating more beautiful burnt orange colour. An edible gold detailed cascaded down all three tiers, giving it a truly decadent and opulent feel.

The beautiful dresses were by Morilee and Ronald Joyce Bridalwear from Ivory and Lace Bridal, and complemented each other perfectly. The Wadimira dress from Victoria Jane by Ronald Joyce was a figure flattering crepe fit and flare botanical inspired wedding dress with lace sleeves and a gorgeous open illusion back. Morileeʼs Reagan was a romantic embroidered lace with pearls and crystals on a soft ball gown silhouette, with illusion lace sleeves and a beautiful keyhole back. Nicola Marshall created two incredible hairstyles: one half-up half-down do on Sarah, intricately braided across the back incorporating Rachel Sokhals copper flowers with pearls and gold leaves, and a big long braid on Rachael, also incorporating hair accessories from Rachel Sokhal, this time white flowers with pearl centres. All of Rachels hairpieces are handmade and absolutely stunning, with amazing quality. Joely did a wonderful job on the make up on the models, with the tones of the makeup complementing the colours of the shoot perfectly, and they both looked flawless. They both carried bouquets by Queen and Eden, complementary to each other but both unique, one with the more neutral but still warm tones, and one with stronger orange tones.

When I was photographing Sarah and Rachael for the couple portraits, it was so easy to get truly beautiful, romantic portraits of them as they were just so in love! They are not just models, but a real-life couple, and so really are a wonderful example of how two peoples love can really shine through in their portraits on their wedding day. I wanted a really romantic, cosy-but- elegant feel to the photographs, and I feel like we really did achieve that in the closeness and intimacy of their portraits. I always try to reflect my couples personalities and relationship in their photos, and these two are so in love that absolutely came across in the photos. Often couples worry about feeling awkward in front of the camera, but as I always explain to my couples, and I think as has come across here, if you are in love and are wonderfully happy, that absolutely will come across in your photos.
