MAX & DARREN’S WINTER SPECTACLE WEDDING

DO YOU WANT TO TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL?

It was New Years Eve and Darren was going to propose in front of friends but chickened out. As we were walking home he had the ring in his pocket and asked me then and there.

WHAT WAS THE THEME AND INSPIRATION FOR YOUR WEDDING?

The wedding day was on 1st December 2017, this was the day we met back in 2009. So we had a winter wedding, we didn’t want a Christmas themed wedding so went with winter.

DID YOU STYLE IT YOURSELF?

We used Floristry & Events by Eden they were amazing, we trusted them and we didn’t see it until the day as a surprise. They completely transformed the venue into a winter wonderland with velvet grey table clothes and eye catching centre pieces.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE VENUE AND WHAT DID YOU LIKE ABOUT IT?

We went with Shrigley Hall in Cheshire, the venue is really nice and accommodating. It’s an period hall with gorgeous grounds with a really big venue room. We wanted somewhere with a hotel to accommodate family and friends flying in for the day.

YOUR WEDDING PLANNER

We did it all our self, a lot of wedding fairs and late nights planning.

FLOWERS, DECORATIONS, DID YOU DO ANY DIY?

We originally planned to do DIY but realised for the look we wanted we couldn’t achieve it ourselves. As a graphic designer all our invitations and stationary were created by Max and the rest was done with floristry.

FOOD

We went quite traditional with the food, Shrigley Hall provided all the food and it went down a treat. Instead of a buffet we did sausage / bacon barms at night! they were much needed.

CAKE

Our cake was a big focal point of the evening. Made by Max’s sister who owns a cake shop and we hired an impressive stand for it.

ENTERTAINMENT

We had a live band who were really entertaining called Monaco wedding band. They got the room dancing and no one felt awkward. We then followed them with a DJ to the late hours which kept us going.

YOUR OUTFITS

Our suits were from ASOS and NEXT, Max’s was dusty blue and mine was dusty grey and really complimented each other.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

Our photographer Jules was amazing all day. Being intimate in public was something we weren’t comfortable and she made us laugh throughout and completely comfortable throughout. Our main shot with the sunset is absolutely incredible and we feel so lucky to have that shot. When choosing our photographer it was so important to get on with them, and we clicked straight away with Jules to the point we booked her then and there.

WHAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT AND MOST FUN PART FOR YOU?

The most important part was the celebrations, you can really relax after the speeches and ceremony. Our photographer took us away from everything and that was a nice feeling to take it all in as a married couple. I would recommend that for anyone, taking 5 mins to take it all in.

WOULD YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?

on’t get too stressed out! and worry about it being perfect, just enjoy the day.
Don’t get too drunk! that was our mistake and the next few days were a write off.
